Spring Valley Triumphs in the Jill Simpson Memorial Challenge

On Monday, Spring Valley Golf Club hosted Portsea Golf Club in the annual Jill Simpson Challenge Trophy. Jill Simpson, a cherished member of both Spring Valley and Portsea for many years, sadly passed away after battling cancer. In 2019, Jill initiated this special challenge between the two clubs, with 16 ladies competing in a 4BBB format, alternating venues each year.

This year, Spring Valley welcomed Portsea for a delightful afternoon, beginning with lunch before 4 pairs from each club took to the course to compete for both individual and team honors.

Individual Winners:

• Spring Valley: Carol Angland and Gilly Graham with 39 points
• Portsea: Wendy Luddington and Jennifer Roberts with 34 points

Nearest the Pin:

• 3rd Hole: Hayley Peters (Spring Valley)
• 10th Hole: Glenda Edmond (Portsea)

Team Results:

• Portsea: 139 points
• Spring Valley: 152 points

With a strong team performance, Spring Valley claimed victory and proudly holds on to the Jill Simpson Challenge Trophy for 2024. We look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition at Portsea in 2025.
