From the President’s Desk
Published on 10th August 2018 in Guests NewsOn behalf of the Board, it is my pleasure to provide a summary of matters addressed at recent meetings of your Board: –
Spring Valley Golf Club Brand
In this the 70thyear of the founding of Spring Valley Golf Club, we have an opportunity for reflection on where this respected, inclusive and friendly club has come from and, more importantly, our future direction. Linked with such a thought process is how we position and present our club in a highly competitive and crowded marketplace and, further, how our club and all it has to offer is perceived.
Consequently, the Board and Management undertook a Brand Review Process with a view to achieving a brand identity which aligns with the look and feel of the club. Important considerations included: – prestige, high quality, proud and respected. Our aim was to achieve a brand identity that acknowledges the history of Spring Valley Golf Club whilst demonstrating a premium and forward-thinking brand.
Other criteria included: – a brand identity with a long-life span and versatility in the use of the logo across many different applications.
Following consideration and debate around a range of options, the Board approved a refreshed brand identity which met the abovementioned criteria drawing on inspiration from the rich history of the club with a modern twist.
We are in the process of filing for trademark registration in accordance with advice received from Intellectual Property experts.
Our new brand identity will be officially launched at our Founding Day Cocktail Event on Friday 21 September.
The implementation across all various applications of our logo is another major project to be undertaken by club Management.
Capital Works Projects
It is extremely important for any business to invest and reinvest in its key business streams. In our case this encompasses the course and associated equipment, clubhouse and golf services centre and our functions’ and business events facilities.
I am pleased to inform you the Board approved the leasing of two important pieces of course maintenance machinery in accordance with our planned machinery replacement schedule.
It also approved the following projects: –
- Upgrade and redesign of layout to the pro shop
- Technology upgrade to bring our services and facilities up to a minimum standard expected by business events as a business retention and growth tactic
Acushnet will be contributing funds towards the cost of the upgrade of the pro shop relating to the improved showcasing of Titleist products as part of our important business partnership. The Titleist Fitting Centre at our southern driving range will also be recommending clients to purchase their golf clubs through our pro shop following fitting sessions.
Membership
We have experienced a very pleasing year in terms of membership growth and we warmly welcome all new members who have joined this great club throughout the year. We trust you enjoy your golfing and social experiences at Spring Valley.
The final membership count at year end was 974 compared with 858 the previous year representing an increase of 116 or 14%.
