Crocodile Gazette Round 1

Our top tipster with 10 winners after 11 games is Maxi Dee (Maxim Desira) who is one of our youngest embers. Here is the narrative from the interview conducted by your FTRR (Footy Tipping Roving Reporter):
“I am super excited to be the winner of the first week of the Spring Valley’s footy tipping for 2025!! I have been a big Carlton fan for just on 11 years – which is interesting because I am only 10 years old! Dad signed me up in the womb! The tipping win this week has obviously helped to ease my pain over Carlton’s result this week….
While I am not a Spring Valley member, my Nan, Paula, has had me do a couple of golf clinics there so far. It seems pretty nice! I haven’t done much golf yet though – I am busy with soccer, basketball, hockey, guitar, chess and swimming. I am in Grade 4 at Solway Primary School and also really like reading Harry Potter and playing on my Nintendo switch. My favourite Nintendo game is Pokemon and I am very excited now as my Mum said I can give her the bottle of red wine I’ve won and she will get me some pokemon cards instead!
We were at the footy on Thursday to watch Carlton – the first quarter was good but then I was a bit sad. Particularly seeing I was there with my Richmond barracking mates. Not even my favourite footy food of hot chips and sprite lemonade made me feel better. But it could have been worse, we could have lost to Collingwood and I could have been made to listen to that “Cooooooolllllllliiiinnnngggggwooooood, Cooooooolllllllliiiinnnngggggwooooood” chant – it’s the worst! Hopefully Carlton can bounce back next week”.
But Maxi, the FTBT (Footy Tipping Brains Trust) must alert you to the fact that you didnt win a bottle of wine! So if Grandma Paula goes to see Michelle to collect it for your mum, she will be dissapointed. But I am sure you will still get your Pokemon cards.
The nasty person who nicked Maxi’s wine was Stone Cold Steve (Steve Adams) who won this week with 8 winners and a margin of 3.
Steve was interviewed via Zoom as he is in China at a trade fair. He is an ex-president of SVGC who joined in 2003, and his greatest achievement was getting to round 2 of the Spring Valley Cup the year he had a bye in Round 1.
He reckons: “SVGC is a great golf course, but more importantly it is an even better Golf Club. There are a lot of golf courses around Melbourne but to me the Club and the atmosphere is what it is all about – Members come from all walks of life and they are a great group of people”.
About footy he says: “I was a Fitzroy supporter from the age of 4, and when the Lions went north I married into a psychotic Richmond Family (as they all are) so I became a pseudo Tigers fan”.
And finally some housekeeping:
- Survivor and Top 8 comps will be announced shortly.
- Ben Skinner has joined the comp, but I don’t have any contact details for him. If anyone knows him, please get him to email or text me.
- Your $30 joining fee will be debited to your account (or your sponsor’s) shortly.
Chomh fada Tipsters, till Round 2,
