Keith Ross, a stalwart member of Spring Valley Golf Club, has been a cherished part of our community since September 27, 1964. With nearly six decades of membership, Keith embodies the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that defines our club.
Described as quiet yet jovial, Keith’s friendly and inclusive demeanor perfectly aligns with the ethos of Spring Valley. Throughout his years with us, he has not only been a skilled player but also a beloved friend and companion to many.
Keith’s prowess on the golf course is undeniable, with multiple gold letter board event victories to his name:
- 1968 JD Leech
- 1990, 1993, and 1994 Philip Courtney Trophy, alongside his lifelong friend Ray Cathie
- 1996 Spring Valley Cup, again partnered with Ray Cathie
- Monthly Medals
- Numerous daily competitions
When paired with Ray Cathie, Keith formed an unstoppable duo, striking fear into the hearts of their competitors. Their enduring friendship translated into exceptional on-course results, showcasing the power of camaraderie in the game of golf.
Beyond his own achievements, Keith’s connection to Spring Valley runs deep, as his sons also became members, further strengthening the bond between family and club.
Though health issues may now prevent Keith, at 95 years old, from gracing our fairways, his passion for the game remains unwavering. Despite challenges with his knees, he eagerly expresses a desire to play whenever the opportunity arises, even if only to be present on the course.
Keith Ross epitomises the values of his era—a dedicated member who consistently contributed to the club’s community. His competitive spirit, coupled with a warm smile and infectious laugh, has left an indelible mark on all who have had the pleasure of knowing him.
To Keith, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. As we honour his remarkable journey, we invite our current members to join us in celebrating his legacy on his Recognition Day.
This Wednesday 6th March, we say thank you Keith, for 59 years of unwavering dedication and camaraderie. Your presence has enriched our club, and your spirit will continue to inspire us for years to come.
