Our very own amen corner

Published on 23rd October 2018 in Guests News

All golfers have heard of the famous Amen corner at Augusta but has one member made a three hole stretch at Spring Valley his very own Amen corner, or maybe Bermuda Triangle is more appropriate.

Rumour has it that the 10 marker was playing very well when things started to unravel on the 14th. After playing his second shot from the bunker the said member fell or as one playing partner described it “went down like a bag of ….” before being helped to his feet by his now laughing companions.

On 15, his drive caught the tree line on the right. This was followed by two shots in succession hitting the same tree and almost ricocheting back into his body / head. The now more than amused playing partners were wondering if they should have conducted a concussion test after his fall!!

His performance down 16 made the concussion test seem all the more necessary. Following a very slow two holes, the group made a concerted effort to pick up their pace of play. Three of the group had remote control buggies and as soon as the tee shots were played, the buggies shot off down the fairway with their owners in quick pursuit. Seems our dazed and confused member lost track of which buggy was his though and before long it had upended itself in the water hazard between 16 & 17.  One errant buggy manoeuvre wasn’t enough for this golfing warrior though. He then managed to unknowingly drive it into the lake near the 17th tee while he putted out on the 16th green.

Robust discussion was held by the playing group back in the clubhouse as to how they should acknowledge his performance into the future.

Word has it that if you see a player and his buggy wrapped in “DANGER” tape, you might just find out his identity.
