Holden Scramble- Southern Golf Course

 

 I had the pleasure of joining our Spring Valley Holden Scramble Champions at their regional final at Southern Golf Course.

The team consisted of Scott Hooper, Tim Hargreaves, David Rasmussen and Nick Adgemis (Box Hill GC).

With plenty of banter before the round had even started it was sure to be a fun day.

We were presented with sunny skies and breezy conditions. Starting on the 9th Hole we got off to a solid start paring the first two long par 4’s that were playing into the wind.

With a handicap of 3.9 we knew we needed to get things moving and after a long drive from Tim, smooth 7 iron from Scott and a 20 foot putt from David we were back in action with an eagle.

We would go on to birdie 11 out of the next 12 holes with everyone contributing their fair share of brilliance and the confidence levels rising enough to start talking about booking flights to Queensland for the National Final.

The scramble rules require 3 drives from each player so Nick and Tim had some work to do over the remaining 4 holes.

Unfortunately the putts didn’t quite drop and with a venture into the water the team just ran out of steam. In the end we finished with 12 under 60, Nett 56.1.  The winning score an amazing Nett 49 from the Kew Golf Club.

Congratulations to the team on such a great performance and well done to Tim on winning the long drive with a massive hit of 297 meters.

Thanks to the team for having me and I look forward to seeing who can qualify at our event on Friday the 7^th of September 2018.
